This, like all other stars stops shining when its hydrogen runs out. Even though looks like the largest star in the solar system its not, its just the closest. Betelgeuse in the constellation of Orion is 400 times larger than the sun.
The distances from a planet to the sun varies. Mercurys distance is 36 million miles. Venuss distance is 67 million miles. Earths distance is 93 million miles. Mars is 141 million miles. Jupiter is 483 million miles. Saturn is 885 million miles. Uranus is 1 billion, 779 miles. Neptune is 2 billion, 788 miles, and Pluto is 3 billion, 658 million miles.
